Camberwell Station and Glenferrie Station | Stoddart Infrastructure Project

Project Completion: 2019

July 19, 2019

As part of Melbourne’s significant ongoing rail infrastructure upgrades, Stoddart Infrastructure were engaged by Downer on behalf of Metro Trains to fabricate and install two of it’s Standard Accessible Shelter onto platforms at both Camberwell and Glenferrie Stations in 2019.

The design - that has been rolled out in various guises at several locations across the Metro Trains network over the last couple of years - focuses on disability considerate design and vandal resistance. It features steel construction to achieve a wide footprint and cantilevered roof, with perforated rear infill panels and glass windbreaks, high output lighting, and in this case Stoddart Infrastructure Station seating to accommodate patrons.

For this project, Stoddart Infrastructure’s in-house design and project management services worked closely with Downer to integrate the shelters into the elevated platform sub-structures and accommodate varying fall and finished surfaces across the sites. The final outcomes represent not only the continuation of a successful relationship between Metro Trains and Stoddart Infrastructure but also an alignment of the two’s values of product longevity through high quality fabrication, finish, and installation.
